Elder Care

Greetings from The National Co-Directors of Elder Care

Since its inception in 1920, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, has been a community-conscious, action-oriented organization that strives to demonstrate the highest standards of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood in all that we say and do. It is essential to meet the needs of our elderly population as they continue to grow older, live longer, and work longer.

Our Elder Care program was launched in 2014 under the leadership of our Past International President, Dr. Mary Breaux Wright.

We have partnered with the Family Caregiving Alliance to improve the quality of life for caregivers and other professions in the aging and disability field. Our continued goal is to further enhance this initiative by increasing awareness of healthy behaviors and outcomes and reduce risk factors affecting the social determinants of health through education. This directly affects elders’ ability to maintain their independence in the community and their ability to age in place, as they so choose.

We invite you to reach out to your local AARP, NCOA, Association of Aging, Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels, and transportation companies to see how you can help reach the needs of the elderly. You will be able to access the contact information for these sites in the resource section on this page.

Mission

Our mission is to engage, assist and empower older adults, their families, and caregivers within the communities we serve.

Vision

Our vision is to reduce isolation through community engagement and program implementation. We seek to educate, inform, and increase the awareness of appropriate resources, benefits, and preventative health for our more seasoned neighbors and their caregivers. We further seek to create a resource repository that focuses on the needs of the communities that we serve.
