ZETA PHI BETA SORORITY, INC. CHARTERS A CHAPTER IN THE MIDDLE EAST
WASHINGTON D.C. – Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, a 94-year old women’s service organization, continues its international growth with the chartering of Alpha Alpha Lambda Zeta chapter in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The creation of the Abu Dhabi chapter follows new chapters recently established in London, England and Chièvres, Belgium in March 2014.
“Zeta women have always been trailblazers. We are proud to continue Zeta’s rich legacy of global service, first established by our sisterhood in 1948 when we became the first Greek-letter service organization to charter a chapter in Africa. Today, we celebrate these leaders and stand with them as they blaze new paths in the areas of scholarship, service, sisterhood and finer womanhood here in Abu Dhabi,” said Mary Breaux Wright, International President, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, who presided over the chartering ceremony.
T. Diane Surgeon, Esq., Eastern Regional Director, was also on hand to officially congratulate the 22 charter members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Alpha Lambda Zeta chapter. The chartering ceremony was held at the Hilton Capital Grand, Abu Dhabi.
Amanda Coleman-Henry, a charter member of the new Zeta chapter, also expressed her excitement. “As a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Alpha Alpha Lambda Zeta chapter, I am elated to be one of the 22 charter members who will have the opportunity to serve the Al Ain community. Through Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel), our signature service program, we will make an immediate impact,” said Coleman-Henry.
