Pi Xi Chapter at the University of Arizona was recognized for its achievements in 2016 at the 35th Annual Order of Omega Greek Awards, on Weds. Feb. 15, 2017. The chapter achieved a near perfect score on the Standards of Excellence assessment tool for Greek-lettered organizations. In addition to its designation as a chapter of excellence, Pi Xi received the Dean Robert S. Svob Greek Chapter of the Year, the university’s highest Greek award! To put this into perspective, the University of Arizona has one of the largest Greek life programs in the country, with over 40 Greek chapters and more than 5000 members; and Pi Xi Chapter won!
The nominees for the award are selected by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Programs (FSP) and their selection is based on each chapter’s Standards of Excellence score and review of the overall packet they submitted for other Greek awards. The finalists for the Dean Svob Award were required to submit a presentation via a chosen format (it could be a website, scrapbook, video, social media account, etc.), on how their chapter embodies the four pillars of Greek Life, scholarship, leadership, brotherhood/sisterhood, and service.
A panel made up of FSP Staff, University of Arizona Facility & Staff and the Order of Omega Executive Board reviewed the presentations and selected the winner, who was announced at the awards ceremony.
