Sigma Epsilon Chapter in the Spotlight

The University of Central Florida, or UCF, is an American metropolitan public research university in Orlando, Florida. It is the largest university in the United States by undergraduate enrollment, as well as the largest by total enrollment.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Sigma Epsilon Chapter, was chartered on the campus of UCF April 5, 1978. For over 30 years now, the ladies of Sigma Epsilon have made a lasting impression on all they’ve come in contact with.

In recent years, the university has felt the unprecedented impact of Sigma Epsilon women collectively and individually as they have helped founded organizations including the Black Female Development Circle, Inc. and John T. Washington Honor Society.

Pi Xi Chapter Accentuates the Positive

Pi Xi Chapter at the University of Arizona was recognized for its achievements in 2016 at the 35th Annual Order of Omega Greek Awards, on Weds. Feb. 15, 2017. The chapter achieved a near perfect score on the Standards of Excellence assessment tool for Greek-lettered organizations. In addition to its designation as a chapter of excellence, Pi Xi received the Dean Robert S. Svob Greek Chapter of the Year, the university’s highest Greek award! To put this into perspective, the University of Arizona has one of the largest Greek life programs in the country, with over 40 Greek chapters and more than 5000 members; and Pi Xi Chapter won!

“Breaking the Chain” in the State of Florida

On the weekend of September 30-October 1 the State of Florida hosted the Undergraduate/Advisors Summit & Basilei Retreat at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. The theme for the weekend was “Breaking the Chains of Hazing in Florida.” The Florida State Director, Karen Blount, and the rest of the Florida Leadership team also provided an opportunity for Sorors to be MIP or Undergraduate Advisor Certified.

During the second workday, Sorors were provided with presentations that gave insight into the sorority and legal consequences of hazing. A “Finer Women Don’t Haze” presentation was conducted by the National Director of Anti-Hazing FWDH Initiative, Soror Scarlet H. Black. Anti-Hazing Workshop – Paul Quinn College

During last year’s Hazing Prevention Week, West Texas State Director, Rhetta Washington McCoy and First Vice Regional Director Redmond of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, in the Gulf Coast Region, hosted a joint Anti-Hazing Workshop at Paul Quinn College. Paul Quinn College is located in Dallas, Texas The joint Anti-Hazing Workshop was mandatory for membership into any campus organization.

FWDH Oklahoma 2015 WebinarOn December 2, 2015, the Outstanding Oklahoma Sorors recommitted themselves to the sorority’s stance regarding the Finer Women Don’t Haze campaign. The National Finer Women Don’t Haze Coordinator, Soror Scarlet Black, led an informative and educational webinar for all members within the state of Oklahoma.

Ever since the campaign launched in 2012, Oklahoma State Director, Soror Artisha Woody, and the Oklahoma Zetas have embraced it and done their due diligence by educating themselves and helping to spread the word at any given moment. Zetas in Oklahoma understand and acknowledge the harm and affect that hazing can have on individuals and on the organization as a whole.
